Read about how Mosaic got its start, and how we've been learning to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
The article covers Mosaic from a small group of people with a heart to plant a church to how God confronted us with youth homelessness in the Brooklyns. It talks about how Pastor Rachel developed the community partnerships to genuinely help God's children experiencing homelessness in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, and it reads like a "how-to" for anyone developing a ministry that will engage their community.
"You really can't do ministry with a community you don't honestly know." -Rev. Rachel Morey

Volunteers from North Hennepin Community College have helped stock Mosaic's No Hassles Youth Food Shelf for months, and now the volunteer spirit incubated at our church is fueling a new foodshelf, the Food Cupboard. Since 60% of NHCC's students are low-income we are confident that fuller stomachs will mean better education and better future prospects for our partner's students.

North Hennepin Community College students have been a Godsend to Mosaic in keeping the No Barriers Food Shelf stocked and supplied. We are grateful for how God has used them and us to feed hungry and homeless teens and young adults, and we pray for a day when none shall know hunger.
Read this article from NHCC's magazine to learn about all the different ways the college's student body has been there for our community's hungry and homeless people.

More evidence that God multiplies the good we do in His name. After starting the No Hassles Youth Food Shelf in the summer of 2011, gifts have been showered upon it. We've expanded capacity so that, in addition to food, we provide clothing to youth so they can keep warm, and even internet access and computers on-site for resume development.
Most recently, The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society gave a $5,000 grant to the No Hassles Youth Food Shelf partners. The funds will be used to create temporary youth positions for young people in crisis. Here is a photo of Pastor Rachel and the partners receiving a ceremonial check last week at the food shelf.

Thanks to Mosaic volunteers for stocking this foodshelf every Sunday and keeping it running on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, thanks to the YMCA Point Northwest for staffing the foodshelf with intelligent resourceful people helping kids, thanks to CEAP for sharing a wonderful community hunger ministry, thanks to the Good Samaritan Society for adding their gifts to God's work, and thank you for your continued prayers for this ministry. |

Homelessness in suburbs like Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park looks different than homelessness in the city. Keke Haynes was couch-hopping and used the No Hassles Youth Foodshelf to survive. Watch this clip from News 12 to learn about Keke's story, hear from Pastor Rachel and learn about the Youth Night Out that many Mosaic and other community volunteers helped to make a great success.
